after further review and thought, i really don't see how removing a monument or statue that may be truly offensive to a large group of people is in some way rewriting history.. i think of germany or other parts of europe.
you don't see swastikas on buildings or statues of hitler or mussolini or other upper level generals in public.
would it be good for a person (think jewish) to drive around a city and see hitler in a public park, even though it is "historical?
Imagine being so miserable and deluded that thinking a statue being removed is going make any difference.

the reason that i ask is, in the two years on this forum and you tube, i've seen ex-jw's either drop off entirely or make fewer and fewer videos.
i know the emotional toll can be high.
is that the sole reason, or is it cost (video) or do you think it's external pressure (legal or family)?
I’ve always thought that this culture of crowdfunding and “activism as a career” had similar qualities to a former junkie selling dope outside a rehab clinic. Part of the reason why people feel so victimised by WT is that they constantly put in hundreds of dollars at a time when it could and should have been kept. They are given the same reasons WT gave them - “not too long to go and we’ll see this tower crumble!” and “donate now to help me release this book/documentary that is going to help thousands of people!”. People already conditioned to give money for these one-time building projects are being led down the same trail on the way out and it’s shameful. Armageddon isn’t coming, WTS isn’t crumbling to dust, so we have people enriching themselves on promises they are destined not to keep. But hey, it sounds a lot better than the truth (i.e. “I don’t want to get a real job so I’ll stay here at home, make videos and interact with JWs and xJWs alike for a living”).
i recall when it was released ,that's when i was a drone, how excited i felt at the prospect of reading it and formulating ways to sell it at the homes in my area.. i thought, finally a book to explain the last book in the bible and indeed one that the churches seemed to want to leave alone!.
i sold quite a few probably because of my enthusiasm and can still remember clearly the first day when i went knocking on doors with it ,and it's been decades since.. but over time it lost it's shine and my mind started to question the explanations in it due to the scene of other things being changed in the jw beliefs.. do you remember they flogged that book so many times in the book studies even when it was found to have "newer light " eclipsing it!.
who else remembers the printed pages with the official corrections to insert into the book ,so many that the book collapsed to be of no relevance anymore really.....what an embarrassment!.
Glad I wasn’t the only one stumbled by the 7 trumpets = JW Conventions in 1920s America. It was so arrogant to make that connection and I reasoned to myself that ANY religious organisation could make the same claim by stringing together 7 public events where they proclaimed something of magnitude.

I’d reckon China has somewhere round 100,000 deaths and at least 1,000,000 infections. They don’t want any part of that graph. News organisations should start listing China as “unreported” if they are serious about accuracy.

No different than people funding themselves on Patreon for “content”. Are the “leaders” of this whole exJW thing telling their followers to hold off on the donations for now?
currently reading: jehovahs witnesses and the third reich by james penton.
a wonderful book written by an ex jw, born in 1932. i find this book very informative, interesting specially coz i was not around then.its thorough, lucid factual,every detail referenced and analytical data is provided to authenticate the veracity of assertion.

Penton’s works are by far the most scholarly and professional. Nowadays it seems everyone leaving the JWs just HAS to release a book detailing their own story and mixing in their counterpoints to the theology of Jehovah’s Witnesses as if we just don’t know what’s wrong with their teachings. Penton actually manages to avoid his own story as much as possible, even though he was a high ranking elder who had led a splinter movement out of the organisation back in the 1980s.
not only do they want everyone dressed up for the zoom meetings( which i won't do) they decided to keep the zoom meeting at 1pm sunday!
so they don't upset their spiritual routine!

Whew! So glad JWs are still not bringing reproach upon Jehovah by dressing up in their own homes during a worldwide quarantine. Because nothing brings in followers impressed by Jehovah’s people than knowing it’s mandatory to dress like you are attending a 1950s business meeting.
